Rentslam, transforming a fast-finding real-estate service into a pleasurable UX experience.

As newcomers to the Amsterdam real estate market, the process of finding a suitable place to live can be quite intense, as the demand is enormous and the supply low. For every new place to rent that comes online, there are hundreds of applicants within a few days. Needless to say, only the first 5-10 applicants are invited and stand a chance of getting the apartment they're looking for. In addition, there is a myriad of real-estate platforms, making it really difficult to stay aware and be first.

To solve this problem, Rentslam has created a spider-service that crawl all platforms automatically and sends a notification when a new property becomes available. By signing up to this service, you are certain to be one of the first applicants, increasing your chances significantly.

When I first met the Rentslam crew, The service was functional. The user journey need to be communicated in a clearer way, and could also benefit from UX enhancements. Therefore, I did a UX overhaul, turning it into an easy-to-use platform with a clear marketing proposition and a journey that was clear from the beginning. The redesign resulted in a significantly higher conversion.
