Communicating Medical Complexity Through Animation

Objective

Develop engaging animations for multiple brands to effectively communicate complex medical information to both consumers and healthcare professionals.

Scope

As Project Manager/Art Director for Bayer, I successfully developed 6 animations across various departments, encompassing three different brands: Verquvo, Kerendia, and Eylea. These animations were designed to target two distinct audiences: consumers and medical professionals.

Approach

1. Consumer-Facing Animations:For animations aimed at consumers, my objective was to create visually appealing representations of medication benefits that were both easy to understand and engaging. This involved conducting in-depth research and maintaining close collaboration with relevant departments to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the messaging, supported by factual information.
2. Medical Professional Animations:When creating animations for medical professionals, I adopted an in-depth approach to explain the complexities of the medication and its benefits in a clear and understandable manner. This process required precision in phrasing medical information and multiple script iterations to ensure accurate presentation.

Challenges and Solutions

One of the main challenges was managing high-volume production demands. To overcome this, I developed a versatile and easily scalable line-art style. This solution allowed for the creation of engaging and informative animations that effectively conveyed complex concepts while maintaining efficiency in production.

Another challenge was balancing creativity with medical accuracy. This was addressed through rigorous research and close collaboration with subject matter experts to ensure all information presented was precise and factually correct.

Key Learnings

Throughout this project, I gained valuable insights into the importance of accuracy when presenting medical information. Additionally, I recognized the significant value of developing a flexible and scalable visual style that could be easily adapted to different content requirements.

Outcome

This challenging yet rewarding project showcased my skills as a Project Manager/Art Director. It highlighted my ability to manage high-volume production while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy and quality. The result was a series of successful animations that effectively communicated complex medical concepts to both consumers and healthcare professionals, demonstrating strong project management and art direction skills in a challenging, high-stakes environment.
